Day One

Here we are almost through with March and I've failed the March run every day challenge. Twice. The first was on Day 14 - long day at work and when the day was done I really just wanted to get home and snuggle my babies. I get that it's an excuse and in the challenge I told myself there would be no excuses, but there you go. I was bummed for a minute that I had made it two weeks running everyday, but then realized that it was awesome that I made it two weeks running every day. If that makes any sense, ha. The last ten or so days have still been filled with running (including a six am pre-work run with a friend and coworker), pilates and Bodypump. I can even throw in a trip to the water park in there and an afternoon of bowling. So there you go. I'm picking up the challenge again, going to try to make it to 31 days, but will be happy if I make it past Day 14. Day 1, here I come.

Day 10

The monthly challenge is still going strong, with runs this week:

Wednesday 5 hilly miles after work with my Mom: This was an awesome run and I'm having a lot of fun running with her more often.

Thursday 3 easy miles at lunch: Went out planning on doing one and ended up with three

Friday 3 easy miles at lunch: Same game plan as Thursday

Saturday 1.5 mile run / 3 mile walk: My legs and feet were feeling tired so it was a nice and easy run / walk with the kiddos in the jogger. We went from her house down the road to check out the house she and Tom are building.

Sunday 10 miles with Melissa and two new running friends: I was worried about running in a group, but it was such a nice run. We all were on the same pace and the miles went by really fast. Breakfast at Skinny Pancake after, helped too.

I don't have specific plans for tomorrow but I'm think two miles and a pilates class.

Threes Again

This challenge is funny - last weekend I found it to be a drag (and I was only on days 3 and 4 - ha!) but this week it has been invigorating. On Monday I went to Pilates at lunchtime (Operation Core Strength!) and then decided I'd run a single mile after work on the treadmill. Well, when I got to the gym both treadmills were in use, so I decided I would do 15 minutes on the elliptical and call it a day. I told myself there might be times during this challenge when I would have to make modifications, and that's okay. Plus, I didn't really feel like running. A treadmill freed up and I ended up doing three miles.

Yesterday at the end of the of the day I soaked up the sunshine and did three miles outside. The miles were fast (for me) and finished in 28 minutes. It felt so nice! It's forcing me to get out the door, and like I said to Melissa, "put my big girl pants on." 5 days down, 26 to go.

Well That Was Tough

It took a lot of work to get out the door for my run today. First was my motivation, or lack of. But then I decided it was run time and got the kids in the jogger. I noticed one of the tires was flat so I filled it up. Didn't get very far before it was flat again. I had no choice but to run with the kiddos today so I needed that tire fixed. A trip to the bike shop and it was determined there was nothing wrong with it. Hours and naps later, bundled up and headed out again with four miles on tap. It was tough pushing through the unplowed snowy sidewalks. I had to walk up a couple hills, too.
Mid run I got a text (I don't usually check my phone during a run but it was during a walk break) from Melissa saying she just finished seven miles. Well, if she did seven I would have to do more than four. I made it to five and called it a day.

28 more running days left this month.

March Challenge

Melissa and I are participating in a 31 day March running challenge- run at least a mile a day, every day for the Month of March. March 1's run started off great with a four mile run at lunch time with my mom. She met me at work and we headed down to the waterfront. A chilly but beautiful day and the miles flew by in less than 40 minutes. Success in my book. Yesterday's run was a different story. I struggled through three miles and I hope today isn't the same. After a few texts back-and-forth with Melissa, both lacking serious motivation, decided this would be a step back week. Solo, shorter runs are planned and then we'll convene for the ten miler next weekend. Let's see how long it takes me to get out the door today.
